Alumni
Gather for Daily Titan Anniversary
 More
than 150 alumni, students, emeriti faculty and current faculty gathered
on campus to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the Daily Titan in
November. Seven of the 11 DT advisers to the Titan were recognized
and given plaques commemorating their service to the newspaper.
In addition to short presentations by each adviser,
the program consisted of a tour of the current DT facility, a “moment
of silence” at the former DT facility on second floor of the
Humanities Building, a reception and dinner and a silent auction
to raise funds for the late Gary Granville’s scholarship fund.
Former advisers present were Jim Alexander, Carolyn Johnson, Wayne
Overbeck, Rick Pullen, Jay Berman and Jeff Brody. Also present was
adviser Tom Clanin and business manager Robert Sage, who organized
the event along with a committee of former advisers. |

resident: “I went primarily out of curiosity, and I’m
glad I did. Had I not attended, I’d always wonder what
I missed. Working on the Titan Times was just one of the things
I did when in college.” |

Los Angeles Times: “Most of my fellow Titaneers didn’t
attend this reunion, so I wound up hanging out with some folks from
previous classes—like Scott Harris, Peter Schmuck, and Dave
Ferrell – and had a blast swapping war stories and other Titan
tales. The only sad note was knowing that Gary Granville wouldn’t
be among the advisors reminiscing at the event.”
